The first test allows you to figure out how much extra catalyst to add to the transesterification reaction, depending on your feedstock and type of catalyst. The second test ensures that you've made quality biodiesel. The test allows you to calculate the acid number of your fuel and oil/fat, which you can convert to %FFA.
