Stroganoff tried to warn him... Hello, all my Alicesoft fans! To quote a Weissman, "Ruling is hard. This was maybe my answer to Ludo, whom, as much as I admire him, I do quibble with. Maou Kayblis of the KL Era had a very medieval philosophy: that if the Maou was a cautious ruler, the Monsters would prosper. We look at real history and it's not that simple. Ludo can say that Kayblis became Maou and reigned for a thousand years, and he was wise and good. But Ludo doesn’t ask the question: What was Kayblis' tax policy? Did he maintain a standing army? What did he do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these humans? By the end of the war, Rance is gone but all of the humans aren’t gone – they’re in the caves. Did Kayblis pursue a policy of systematic humancide and kill them? Even the little baby humans, in their little human cradles? What about the Hero System and Escudo?" All very good questions... Here's another short scene with some bonus content at the end. Yes, Arios does taunt you and talk to you in the end-turn screen. Sometimes directly addressing you, the player, as Rance. The lines had to be creative because Alicesoft's system has these really weird restrictions like... using the uncapped letter "r" causes a line break and eats up the letter. So I have to translate the whole thing without using the letter "r". I know, it's crazy! Do you know how many essential words have the letter "r" in them? Way too many! Gah! Anyway, I tried, but expect the official translation to have way better lines up there since they likely won't be dealing with the same issues as me. Also, whoa... I managed to translate Escudo's system. That's so awesome. With each video, I aim for greater accuracy and side myself towards the official terms. Sorry, Gele lovers. Your legacy never dies, as I also love that name. There are fascinating similarities and parallels between Kayblis and Rance. What makes them similar? What makes them different? Saa. His origin story is likely coming soon, but it didn't feel right to work on it when people have no clue what Kay-chan's personality is like. Hopefully this video helps illustrate that. Maybe there'll be more. I hope this project didn't have too many mistakes; I just want to upload and collapse. Stroganoff is super cool and his wisdom is legendary. Poor Kayblis.
