It is located in the valley of nine mountains. Founded in the 17th century by a former Raja of Rewah or by the Raja Raghunath Singh of Nayagarh, who had two sons, the elder son, Harihar Singh, became Raja of Nayagarh, and the younger, Jadunath Singh Mangraj, retained possession of four Garhs, or forts, as his share, viz. Kadua, Ghuntsahi, Sardhapur, and Khepada, all in Nayagarh. Up to the reign of Raja Narayan Singh Mangraj, Khandpara extended on the east up to Banki, on the west to Balaramprasad in Daspalla, on the north to Kantilo, and on the south up to Jogiapali in Nayagarh. The state ceased to exist on 1st January 1948 when it merged into the Republic of India. The rulers Privy Purse and privileges were withdrawn 8th September 1970. The Raja maintains a military force of 1085 infantry and 12 guns (as of 1892). College, Bhubaneswar in Table Tennis at College and University levels 1973/1974 and 1974/1975; joined the Congress (I) Party in 1980 after being elected Independently from Khandpara Assembly Constituency; Life member, Bhubaneswar Plant Lover's Association; Member, Bhubaneswar Club, Bhubaneswar; Vice-President, Chinmoya Mission, Bhubaneswar; Life member, Bengal cricket Association, Calcutta; President, District Youth Congress, Puri, 1981/1984; Member, Consultative Committee for Irrigation, Power and works, 1982/1984; interests and pastimes include Writing articles, Photography and Playing Cricket; he has compiled a work on Khandapara Ithas in English; married Rani Devaki Devi Kumari, has issue, one son and one daughter. Yuvraj Sidharth Shekhar Singh, former MLA from Khandapara Legislative Constituency from 2009 to 2014 from Biju Janata Dal, President Students' Union BJB College, Bhubaneswar; Sub-Editor/Reporter with The Asian Age, The New Indian Express; married to Yuvrani Alokita Devi, daughter of Raja Yadvendra Bikram Singh of Payagpur, and his wife, Rani Padma Kumari Devi, and has issue, one daughter and one son. Rajkumari Aradhana Rathore, married Major Shakti Singh Rathore of Peeh, Rajasthan, an acclaimed Polo Player, and has issue, one daughter. Kumari Ayesha Rathore.
