YOUTH FEST 2024: DAY 1 - Dream that Makes you Dream - Don Bosco Siliguri : 26-28 January 2024

#donbosco #youthfest24 #dbyouthfest #kolkatasalesians #donboscosiliguri #donbosconorthbengal #donboscokolkata The 8th edition of the Province level Youth Fest kicked off on 26th January with the hoisting of Salesian Youth Movement flag at the Golden Arcade at Don Bosco School, Siliguri. The three day event is organized by Salesian Youth Movement and the Province of Kolkata The Youth Fest 2024 saw many leaders and young people from various parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Nepal and Bangladesh. Around 600 youth and 100 Animators took part in this event. In the inaugural session Auxilium Convent, New Chumta, Siliguri performed a prayer dance while Fr. Bijoy and Pre-Novices showcased the theme song dance to the whole gathering. Fr. VC Jose, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School welcomed and introduced the youth to Don Bosco campus. In his inaugural speech, Fr. Sunil Kerketta, the Vice-Provincial and Youth Delegate of the Province, asked the youth to dream the dreams they see, not while they sleep but while they are awake. Major Giffin George, from the Indian Army, Aviation Department and a past pupil of Don Bosco Alakananda, New Delhi, the Chief Guest of the day, sharing his personal experiences, mentioned, certain tips to the youth, based on the theme of the Youth fest. “Perseverance, Sincerity and disciplined life will help one on Dreaming big,” he added. Other dignitaries present were Fr. Alfred Paul, the Coordinator of the event, Fr. Patrick Lepcha, the National Youth Director, Fr. Shaju PT, Vice Principal of Salesian College, Fr. CM Paul and Fr. Albert Kujur. The ice-breaking sessions led by Fr. Bijoy Ghosh and Bandel Parish helped the youth intermingle with each other. Fr. Patrick Lepcha, the Youth Director of South Asia, took the first session on the Strenna 2024, Dream that makes you dream, explaining to the youth the significance of dreams in the life of each young person. Pope John Paul II Theology of Body Messengers gave the second session of the day speaking on Dreams: Ideology vs reality, continuance of the Kingdom of Heaven, imparting knowledge on contraception and the evil impact of abortion. Rt. Rev. Vincent Aind, the Bishop of Bagdogra and Archbishop-elect of the Archdiocese of Ranchi, presided over the inaugural Mass of the Youth Fest at Don Bosco Shrine. Speaking to young people he encouraged them to have a dream, dreams that are achievable and prayed for them that they may be able to realize their dreams.
