A tour of VICTORIA WEST, South Africa - An intriguing Karoo Town!

Hi everyone! In this vlog, I visit the interesting town of Victoria West in South Africa. It is situated on the N12 national road and is part of the Great Karoo region. This is sheep farming country - distances between towns in the Karoo can be vast and hence Victoria West is a major hub for the farmers in the area. It is also known as the home of legendary Springbok rugby player Mannetjies Roux. The vlog starts with me having a discussion with a local man about whether the town is part of the Northern Cape or the Western Cape. I then talk about the role of the Dutch Reformed Church in establishing Victoria West, before exploring a relatively affluent and seemingly historic area of the town. I then head to Church Street, which is also the main street of Victoria West. Along the way, I talk more about my first impressions as well as general information about the town. I interact with several friendly people along the way - watch as I try to tell you more about the history of the town, only to be inundated with friendly interactions from the locals! I get to the N12 and walk along other roads in the town, but eventually return to Church Street and other residential parts. Finally, I meet some more locals at the Magistrates Office, where the mystery of the Northern Cape / Western Cape debate is seemingly settled :) I hope you enjoy this vlog of Victoria West!
