Philip CD104 CD player, changing belt and removing Oversampling

In this video I detail how I change the drawer opening belt. These old players can have issues with the drawer no closing properly. I remove the CDM1 drive assembly and replace the belt. 11:28 Oversampling removal and clocking mod. Oversampling was introduced in the early days by Philips, to achieve 16 bit performance with 14 bit converters. These older 14 bit players have a lower clock speed of 4.2336 Mhz, so a 74 IC can be used to derive a different clock speed. 'The marketeers sold the BS that the 16bit Sony players were superior to the 14bit Philips/Marantz/ Mission players.' The mod bypasses the 4x oversampling This involves desoldering the filter IC SAA7030, fitting a socket and a new mini PCB then adding a resistor and isolating an IC leg. I hope to offer this IC as a circuit in the future. This makes it a true 14 bit player. Personally will thins make this CD player sparkle, who knows. Many just leave well alone. I did it as it's an easy mod to reverse. So I will compare the results with my other, non modded CD104. Other issues resolved are the griplets, little through circuit board links. These need resoldered. Electrolytic capacitors are usually FUBAR and need replaced. Bodgetastic!
