In the previous video 16.3b, we learned a "measure of spread" is a single number that describes the spread of a data set. One of those measures of spread is the interquartile range (IQR). The interquartile range is the difference of the upper quartile and lower quartile. Another measure that describes the spread is the range. The range is the difference of the greatest value and least value in a set of data. By putting the given data sets in order from least to greatest, we can easily identify the least to greatest values. We walk-through finding the range for different data sets. We show two box plots in which we can see which has a lesser IQR and which has a lesser range.
