WAIT, this isn't Smash Ultimate, okay, more Fire Emblem covers are a go! This tune has been a highly requested one from you guys for a while now, so I thought I'd deliver on that! I've always known this song as a Fire Emblem standard, and struggled a bit when trying to come up with creative ways to do it in a jazz style. The straight ahead rock feel didn't really suit my style, so I decided to swing it a bit! After transcribing the tune, I noticed that the chords in the opening section gave me a really strong Spanish Phrygian vibe! Spanish Phrygian is just like any other instance of the Phrygian mode, but the I chord is played as a major chord, sort of like a Picardy third happening in the middle of a tune. This got me thinking of other jazz tunes that use Spanish Phrygian, and I instantly thought of Chick Corea's "La Fiesta". There's a lot in this arrangement that was borrowed from "La Fiesta", and I hope it shows! This video also has my FASTEST section ever in a cover! I think the swing section at the end clocks in at nearly 350 BPM, which is pretty ridiculous to play at - the soli at the end took me a bunch of takes. In the end, really happy with how this cover progresses.
