When a coach makes you an offer, make sure you thank them for the opportunity and let them know you are interested in their program. - It is OK to tell the coach that you need some time to think it over. Ask them when they need your response. - The best leverage you have when negotiating your athletic scholarship offer is legitimate offers from other schools. - Receiving an athletic scholarship offer does not mean you are automatically accepted into the college or university. You still need to go through the admissions process. - Depending on the overall cost of the school, the largest scholarship offer might not be the cheapest, or best, option. - Keep in mind that scholarship offers are only good for one year. - Remember, verbal offers from coaches are not binding.
