In the Finishing Sequence of Ashtanga Yoga, we learn Urdhva Dhanurasana, a pretty challenging backbend that is inaccessible to many of us, especially for the first few months of practice. Just trying and failing repetitively will work for most people eventually, and bridge pose is a reasonable alternative for a while. But if there's a specific reason this pose is not working for you (e.g. a wrist or a shoulder injury) then I want to offer you some ideas on what you could do instead. I'll talk you through 3 backbends you can do in place of Urdhva Dhanurasana, whilst sticking to the count of the Finishing Sequence of Ashtanga Yoga!
