His grandmother then takes centre stage praise singing, calling on his ancestors to surround his aura with the spirit of enlightenment and progression on his journey. The opening song, Gcwanini ft. Korus & Sobantwana, sets the theme and intention behind the compilation and livestream within its 8 minute framing. The story about Gcwanini is the channelling of Blanka’s late grandfather, uDingane. “I consider him the great Gcwanini because of my strong bond with him and how he was instrumental in me finding my purpose and realising the dream. If he was still alive, the song would still exist in the teachings and talks we’d have.” Now that “zithule iinkosi,” and he is resting in peace. His legacy lives on through the frequencies vibrating through the instrumentation. IMBUYELO: HOMECOMING “More than anything the biggest thing of going home is doing it in a place where my dad used to sit, where my grandfather used to sit and honouring them in an authentic way.” It is the consistency from instrumentation to performance why the setting of the stage is, eKhaya Khulu, in Blanka’s ancestral home. “No matter where it is that I am going, it always has to start at home." Then I go to the graves where my late grandmother, grandfather and uncles are resting and I do the same.” Home is the direct link to all the things that we acquire and share. Home develops our pride, who we are, our thoughts, intellect and how we view and articulate the world. “The city gave me the lessons and skills I need to thrive in a technological economy.
