For 60 years, it was a regular educational institution where Dalits, backward classes, and tribals received reservations. However, in 2011, the Congress government pulled a trick. They suddenly declared Jamia Millia University a minority institution. This led to 50 percent reservation being implemented for Muslims at Jamia Millia University. Previously, all SC/ST/OBCs received reservations during admissions.
