Carcass- corporeal jigsaw quandary - drum cover/test

This is loosely titled "drum cover" because it isn't really a proper drum cover - well, not as well done as I would present as an official cover by myself. I don't even come in on time hahaha. Having reorganized my drum room to have tidy and organized the microphone cables in a tidy bundle around the edge of the room last night and stored all the excess nonsense in the cupboard etc, it was time to attempt a drum jam to see if the drum levels were correct. My set up is very basic and simply a set of mics going to a mixing desk. The levels of each drum are mixed by ear and recorded as a wav file, meaning that post mixing is impossible. I have recorded the drums alone, but this was the first attempt at recording while playing to a song I'm listening to in headphones, then mixing the song and the drums after recording is done... the kicks were too quiet I think. But the kit overall sounds amazing for the cheap recording setup (less than $850) Anyway, it is Sunday today, and after sleeping in, spending quality time with the missus, having a BBQ and farting about with cameras and lighting, it was 5:30pm. I have my drums at home, so it was getting a bit late to do multiple takes to try to nail the song... but I was keen to at least attempt something to get the project closer to ready for the drum cover onslaught I intend to do in 2014.... so I quickly sat down and belted this track out with one other, having barely studied them and done no warming up at all... so please excuse the shoddy performance and the endless mistakes.... This was the first and the only take. No more time today... The experiment was a success though - the drums cut through the song well enough to be heard and I think I will have the opportunity to do some covers this week...with a little more preparation and time to do 3 or 4 takes for each track without annoying the neighbors. :)
