Yet it took the 37-year-old, who grew up in Australia as the child of Chinese immigrants, quite a while till, after playing the piano, the clarinet, and the bassoon, she finally discovered the bass for herself. Meanwhile Linda May Han Oh lives in New York and has already recorded five albums as a bandleader. However, doing so, she does not always stick to the typical jazz repertoire as the sought-after bassist and composer has a broadly diversified taste in music. Her list of "Favourites" includes the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as many well-known jazz artists. In addition to this, she likes to play with large ensembles. Sie teilt sich längst die Bühne mit Jazzgrößen wie Pat Metheny oder Joe Lovano. Nicht immer hält sie sich dabei an das typische Jazzrepertoire, denn die gefragte Bassistin und Komponistin verfügt über einen breit gefächerten Musikgeschmack. Die hr-Bigband freut sich auf einen echten "Rising Star": Linda May Han Oh teilt sich längst die Bühne mit Jazzgrößen wie Pat Metheny oder Joe Lovano. Dabei hat es eine ganze Weile gedauert bis die inzwischen 37-Jährige, die als Kind chinesischer Einwanderer in Australien aufgewachsen ist, vom Klavier über die Klarinette und das Fagott schließlich den Weg zum Bass fand. Mittlerweile lebt sie in New York und hat bereits fünf eigene Alben veröffentlicht. Nicht immer hält sie sich dabei an das typische Jazzrepertoire, denn die gefragte Bassistin und Komponistin verfügt über einen breit gefächerten Musikgeschmack. So gehört etwa auch die Rockband Red Hot Chili Peppers zu ihren "Favourites". Und auch große Besetzungen liegen der Musikerin.
