In this episode of Gibson TV’s The Songbook, YUNGBLUD plays impassioned acoustic versions of his hit songs "Strawberry Lipstick," "Loner," and "Mars,” and talks about the writing and inspiration behind the music. YUNGBLUD discusses how he wrote “Loner” on an old out-of-tune piano that used to belong to his grandmother while visiting his parents on Easter Sunday and describes how the audience reacted to the song when he first performed it in public the next day. He also recalls how only a year before that, all the labels in the UK said, “Guitar music - Nah. Never going to work.” How wrong they were! YUNGBLUD also discusses his YUNGBLUD persona and what he hopes people will feel when they listen to his music. YUNGBLUD is an English singer, songwriter, and actor. Born Dominic Richard Harrison in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, his debut EP, “YUNGBLUD,” was released in 2018 and was followed by the album “21st Century Liability” soon afterward. His second EP, “The Underrated Youth,” was released the following year. His second album, 2020’s “Weird!,” has been his most successful record to date, and topped the UK Albums Chart, and reached number 75 on the Billboard 200 in the USA.
