How to Paint Loosely with Watercolour

New Watercolour Landscapes for Beginners Course Available Now! 75% off https://www.scottswinsonclasses.com/w... This painting and video is all about how to paint loosely and freely with watercolour. Painting wet in wet with watercolour lends itself to painting loosely and this occurs much more easily if you use hake brushes. My advice is, if you would like to paint more loosely then use hake brushes, just paint shapes not things and paint wet in wet with a limited palette. I hope you enjoy this video! 0:00 Beginning Advice on Painting Loosely 2:30 Alizarin Crimson Sky 3:00 Cerulean Blue Part of the Sky 4:20 Cobalt Blue and Light Red Clouds and Reflections 6:35 Strengthen the Clouds 8:00 Tape off Horizon and Lift out Light 9:40 Painting in the Land 11:13 Detail with a Rigger Brush 13:52 Lifting out Light on the Horizon 15:00 Using a Razor to Lift out a Strong Line on the Horizon #watercolour #watercolourlandscape #loosewatercolour Paper: Arches A4 Cold Pressed 300gsm Watercolour Paper Paints: Alizarin Crimson Permanent Cerulean Blue Mix of Cobalt Blue and Light Red Mix of Winsor Blue (red shade) and Light Red Brushes: 2 Inch Holbein Hake 1 Inch Holbein Hake Pure Kolinsky Round Sable Size 12 Riggers x2 Series 7 Round Sable by Winsor and Newton Size 0 to sign it Brushes: Brushes are important but you don’t need a huge number to be able to paint really well! I love Holbein Hake Brushes as they are softer, have less thickness and so hold a bit less water than the Ron Ranson Hake Brushes (which I like as it gives me more control). I like the thickness of the handle (thinner and lighter than the Ron Ranson Hakes) and the overall weighting of them. But having said all of that you could probably use any sort of hake (although I don’t love Art Spectrum’s Hakes).
