The Bridle Track | The Best Riverside Camping | Our Dog Nearly Dies!

The Bridle Track near Hill End has some the best riverside camping we've come across! Starting from Root Hog Road we camp just south of The Bridle Track on a perfect spot alongside the Macquarie River Saturday morning we decide to take a stroll and take in the surroundings, however with the warm weather that was upon us, the local red belly black snake decided to do the same thing! After seeing our slithery friend, Tizz decided we keep trekking up The Bridle Track to see what else we could find Stopping a few times to let Quinn have a run and have lunch, we quickly realised that The Bridle Track had endless opportunities for camping. There were just so many spots! I definitely wouldn't be afraid of turning up late, that's for sure! Popping out the other end of the track, we explored the historic town of Hill End. A shadow of its former glory, however such a great sight to see the old buildings still standing, as well as the pub still operating! Continuing on, we found a magic spot at Wallaby Rocks campground. Or so we thought. For some reason our dog, Quinn, was not her Kelpie self. She was lethargic and ended up being sick quite badly. She started to drift in and out of consciousness and it was at this stage we feared the worst! Luckily we had some reception and called an out-of-hours vet at nearby Bathurst. We relayed Quinn's symptoms and told her we'd be there within the hour. Arriving at the vet, Quinn had tests, x-rays and a drip put on her. It was clear she had to stay the night and recover properly With Quinn out of action, we booked a last minute non-powered site at the NRMA Bathurst Panorama Holiday Park. The owners were fantastic. They were actually booked out, but after hearing our story they told us they had a paddock out the back and we could camp there! Quinn recovered well and we picked her up Sunday morning. We had to stop a few times on the way home to let her have a break. This worked well as we were in no rush to get home anyway We highly recommend the NRMA Bathurst Panorama Holiday Park if you're passing through. Great owners with a great park.
