Tissington, Dovedale, Alstonefield and Milldale Walk

Circular walk starting from Tissington and heading to Dovedale. Along the River Dove for a while then up Hall Dale, followed by a drop down to Dale Bottom then a climb up to Alstonefield. Had a short break there and a picnic lunch, then I headed down to Milldale. From Milldale there is a long, long climb uphill. I then had to walk through a field of young cattle, which always worries me, and although some of them followed me, they weren't too bad to be honest. After that though the track became non-existant and I just had to follow the route my OS map was showing me, which did indeed get me to the stiles and marker posts. I also encountered a dyke that was completely overgrown and was very lucky to spot the hidden plank that I had to walk over to cross it, if I hadn't of seen it I could easily have fallen off the edge and into all the nettles and thistles! It seems that this section of the walk is little used. Soon after I arrived back at Tissington which is a very pretty and interesting village. Just over 11 miles in total. 6th July 2023
