The 15th 'JahBlues Tour 2024' is an annual 'Blues & Reggae' music trip organized by Dawn Fairbanks out of the Toronto area. She brings 5/6 top notch musicians/singers from Toronto and surrounding area and up to 60 vacationers down to the 7 mile long beach of Negril, Jamaica for 7-10 days. The JahBlues tour was created to join together Canadian Blues professionals and local Negril Reggae artists in the warmth of the Jamaican sun and the inviting settings of resorts and clubs, both beachfront and cliffside ...plus bringing down clothing, school supplies and musical instruments for different local schools every year. The musicians and singers perform for free and admission is free at all performances. They've added a fund-raiser at WAVZ on January 27/2024 with all funds going to the local animal rescue shelter. The musicians involved in this trip are Canadian legends Cheryl Lescom, Jerome Godboo plus Rick Taylor, Chucky Z and Daleanne Brendon and guest guitarist Brent Lethbridge and singer Jennifer Hanson. JEROME GODBOO has been tearing up stages in Canada and the world for 40 years now, leaving a lasting impression on the psyche of his many fans. The local legend of explosive ‘90s rock band the Phantoms, Jerome is known for his totally unbridled vocals and astonishing harmonica skills (which won him the “Best Harmonica Player” award at the Blues Foundation’s 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee). In 1985 Jerome Godboo won the Chez 106 harmonica contest in Ottawa & formed the Phantoms. He moved to Toronto & started packing clubs across Canada. He played relentlessly, made two albums & had a profitable decade long run. Next he dove in with a band of house mates called Deep Down which morphed into One Monkey with Alec Fraser and they were all funky brothers. Next he was a hired gun for Ronnie Hawkins for 2 years and a CD, and then with Jack de Keyzer on & off. During this time he became the bandleader for Jeff Healey at Healeys club where he discovered a 10 year old Jimmy Bowskill playing outside the club & they joined up & made a couple of CDs. After that Alec & Jerome rediscovered reclusive Phantoms guitarist Joe Toole. They bonded with a deep country and bluegrass connection so Brokenjoe was born. He kept playing the blues with Eric Schenkman and Shawn Kellerman.
