Russian attack submarines have conducted missions around the Irish Sea twice since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on July 1. The first deployment of a Russian Kilo-class submarine near the Irish Sea, which separates Ireland from Britain, was around 18 months ago. The second deployment took place recently, Bloomberg reported citing “people familiar with the matter.” Ireland's Defence Department said air and naval assets are conducting "enhanced maritime patrolling" near offshore energy infrastructure in the Irish Sea.
