WE EAT AND DRINK EVERYTHING ON ICON OF THE SEAS We Eat and Drink Everything on Icon of the Seas 0:00 Introduction 0:50 Complimentary Restaurants 1:13 The Best Free Restaurant on Icon of the Seas 11:03 The Worst Free Restaurant on Icon of the Seas 12:37 Specialty Restaurants 12:50 The Best Specialty Restaurant 20:30 The Worst Specialty Restaurant 22:06 The Best Outdoor Bar 26:34 The Best Indoor Bar 31:20 The Worst Bar We Eat All of the Complimentary Food on Icon of the Seas Our top pick for complimentary dining, the AquaDome Market, offers five distinct dining establishments under one roof. From gyros to crepes, the quality and variety here made it a regular stop for us during our cruise. Elevating the selections typically found at Café Promenade, Pearl Café impressed us with its round-the-clock offerings, including steak and cheese breakfast sandwiches and delectable desserts, earning our second-place spot. At the bottom of the barrel was the Surfside Eatery. This family-friendly buffet offered some of the worst prepared food on the ship. Selections were often dry and flavorless, with odd combinations that even I couldn’t stomach. Specialty Restaurants on Icon of the Seas: For those looking to elevate their dining experience, Icon of the Seas offers several specialty restaurants, each showcasing exquisite cuisine and ambiance. Topping our list is Royal Caribbean's signature steakhouse, Chops Grille. This venue serves succulent steaks and decadent desserts, making it a must-visit for meat lovers. Next, we had to go with the family-friendly Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen: Cruisers can enjoy classic Italian-American comfort food at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, where you can indulge in mouthwatering pizzas, pasta dishes, and delectable desserts. Coming in last for us is Hooked Seafood. We have sampled this restaurant on several other trips, and the New England-style seafood restaurant does not meet our high standards as natives of Massachusetts. At $200 a person, we couldn’t stomach spending that amount of money on the 8-course tasting menu at the Empire Supper Club. BARS AND LOUNGES ON ICON OF THE SEAS We divided the bars into outdoor and indoor venues regarding what to drink on Icon of the Seas. Outside, we loved the lemonade-infused cocktails at the Lemon Post, which was our number one selection. Inside, we liked the swanky vibes and specialty drink menu at the 1400 Lobby Bar. This hip bar is located on the promenade and pays homage to the Royal Caribbean class of ships. Our second-place rankings are the Hideaway Bar and the Schooner Bar, respectively. The Hideaway Bar, aft on Deck 15, offers smooth and refreshing drinks that are idle for sipping on a sea day or while watching sail away. Meanwhile, the Schooner Bar boasts a new location and updated décor and design. Not to mention a more upscale menu with fantastic, unique cocktails. Other bars and lounges we couldn’t help but visit repeatedly were the Dueling Pianos bar, which features high-energy piano shows most nights of the cruise, and the Swim and Tonic. On Deck 16, the Swim and Tonic is the first swim-up bar in the Royal Caribbean fleet. While Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues is a new concept, the venue ranked at the bottom of our list. We appreciated the New Orleans-inspired drink menu. However, the venue was not busy, and we preferred the live music and entertainment at other lounges throughout the ship.
