Voice Evolution Of Chuck E. Cheese (1977 - Present)

Chuck E. Cheese is the mascot of CEC Entertainment and the Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants. Since his creation in 1977, Chuck E. has been prorated by a total of six different voice actors. John Widelock was chosen in 1977 to do the voice of every character for the original demo. Shortly after, it was decided to give each character their own unique voice actor, and Widelock was asked to choose which character he wanted to keep. Naturally, he chose the star of the show, Chuck E. Cheese. Widelock would do the character's voice until 1984, that's because in 1983, Nolan Bushnell's animation company, Kadabrascope was producing a Christmas special staring Chuck E. and Jasper. For the special, they wanted Chuck E. to sing, however, Widelock couldn't. Due to this, they brought in Scott Wilson (Who had been doing the voice of Mr. Munch for 5 years at that point) to do the singing voice. He apparently did so good, that he was given the role right on the spot. Widelock recorded two more showtapes before the role was given to Wilson. Scott Wilson would do Chuck E.'s voice from 1984 - 1993, transforming the rat from a wise-cracking rat who constantly insulting his friends to a far friendlier character. During this time, there was only one show where Wilson did not do the character's voice and that was the 1986 History of Rock & Roll Showtape. This was during a time when Showbiz was moving CEC's assets from California to their home office in Texas, and since Wilson lived in California, he could not do the show, and SPP would hire an unknown voice actor. After this one show however, Wilson would return and do the voice until 1993. In 1993, after an almost 15 long year with CEC, Scott Wilson retired as the voice of Chuck E. and Munch, so Showbiz Pizza Time hat to hold auditions. The person who would get the part was a young man by the name of Duncan Brannan, who did the voice of the screen character Larry the Technician in the September 1993 Show. Brannan would make his debut as Chuck E. in the January 1994 Show, initially keeping his voice very similar to Wilson's portrayal of the character, but would slowly morph from a sarcastic adult rat, to the hip sporty young mouse we know and love today. Brannan would do the voice of Chuck E. from 1994 to 1997, and would be briefly be replaced by Jeremy Blaido (Best known for doing the voice of Jasper since 1999) for the May 1998 show, but would come back with the Patriotic show from that year and continue to do the voice until 2012. in 2012, After 19 years, Duncan Brannan would be let go as the voice of Chuck E., due to CEC rebranding their mascot to be a CGI Rock star the size of a real mouse. The voice actor CEC ended up going with was the front man for the band Bowling For Soup, Jaret Reddick. Reddick has been the voice of Chuck E. for nearly 10 years at this point. __________________________________________________________________________ Songs / skit used: Widelock Chuck (Demo) - PTT Theme Song (Demo Version) Widelock Chuck (Final) - It's A Special Day (CEC's 5th B-Day) Wilson Chuck (1984) - Country Helen Segment 3 Unknown - History Of Rock Segment 1 Wilson Chuck (1986) - Working For A Living Segment 1 Brannan Chuck (1994) - Spring Break Segment 1 Blaido Chuck - Studio C 1997 Diagnostics Brannan Chuck (1998) - September 2007 Segment 1 Reddick Chuck - Out Of This World __________________________________________________________________________ Footage Credits:    • Chuck E. Cheese 5th birthday salute      • Видео      • Видео      • Видео      • Chuck E. Cheese's September 2007 Show...      • Out of This World | Chuck E. Cheese S...   __________________________________________________________________________ This video is for entertainment and education purposes only.
