In September 1902 Stockton experienced one of the worst fires in its history when the prized Agricultural Pavilion erupted in flames and consumed the massive exhibit hall. One of those who rose to the challenge to fight the fire and keep it from spreading to nearby structures was Thomas J. Walsh, a member of Eureka Engine Co. 2. He and his horse didn't make it, sustaining fatal injuries at the corner of Lafayette and San Joaquin streets. Jeff will recount what happened and take you to his grave at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, as well as visit graves of other brave firefighters in the Stockton Rural Cemetery.
