Today i Wanted to Making A Video Just Solely About My Ash Lye Solution. I do This Using My 4 Litre Pot. I Fill my Pot with 1/3 Ash from hardwood and charcoal the un burnt black leftover charred wood in my Fire Place. i Started with a 1/2 and 1/2 ratio to make my 1/3 Ash total then add Rain Water to Fill the Pot. I Hope This Makes Sense. i did 3 Pots. i Used More White Ash in the 2nd Batch than Charcoal Just to see if this would make a Stronger Lye Solution Mix. So by all mean Experiment Friends. There is No Hard and Fast Rules here. I Then Brought my Solution to a Boil. Then Simmered it For Roughly 35 mins. you Can Do 40 mins. I Stirred the Ash every 4-5 mins. Then We Let our Solution Sit For 4-5 days. Then Strain Off the Charcoal and Ash. What is Left is Our Soaking Sllution for Amadou / Cattail Fluff / Punkwood etc If Anyone Has something Better.
