Scott Strauss is a retired member of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit. He was on his way home after an overnight shift listening to the radio when he heard the news of the first plane impacting the first tower at World Trade Center. Shortly after returning home, he turned on the TV and he saw the report of the second plane. Strauss immediately set off back to work. Strauss was part of a team searching “The Pile” for survivors. Both he and Paddy McGee saved the lives of Port Authority Police Officer Will Jimeno and Sgt. John McLoughlin. He was awarded the New York Police Department Medal of Honor.
