2020 Yamaha YZ250F Mapping Comparison: Linear Torque (Hard Pack) vs Hard Hitting (Loamy)

Tried out the Yamaha EFI mapping app today on a 2020 YZ250F. It was quick and easy to link my phone to the bike and create my own maps or load up some different pre-made maps that come with the app. I loaded the Linear Torque (Hard Pack) in position 1 (no light on the map switch). This map basically retards the ignition timing and richens up the fuel which results in a linear almost flat build of power with slightly slower RPM response to throttle inputs. This map was easier to ride in the woods. In map position 2 (the map switch lights up blue) I loaded up Hard Hitting (Loamy) which advances the ignition and leans out the mixture for a snappier and quicker revving response to throttle inputs. Definitely more fun to ride on the track and harder to control in the woods. Really fun to be able to quickly and easily change the character and response of an engine with a free app on a smart phone. I hope more manufacturers follow Yamaha's lead on this feature, especially the free app part:)
