Sugar Magnolia | Bob Weir Rhythm Guitar Part | Grateful Dead

In this video we look at Bob Weir's rhythm guitar part on the Grateful Dead classic, "Sugar Magnolia." "Sugar Magnolia" was first performed by the Grateful Dead on June 7, 1970, at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA. Played nearly 600 times, "Sugar Magnolia" is one of the Dead's most recognizable songs, and one that really developed out on the road. To me, the most difficult thing about this song is that there are many "parts" to it, and arranged in a somewhat unconventional manner. Once you have each section under your fingers and know which part goes where, it's quite easy and a whole lot of fun to play. The main part of "Sugar Magnolia" is in the key of A major with some borrowed chords thrown in for good measure. The song modulates to the key of B major for the coda, which developed into almost a song of its own titled "Sunshine Daydream." This section could be brief, drawn out into a long jam, and/or even rehashed at the end of a show or set. 🎸 You can find my backing track for "Sugar Magnolia" here:    • Sugar Magnolia | Backing Track | GRAT...   🔔 Subscribe for more free Jerry Garcia and other Grateful Dead related content: https://bit.ly/2t3TPQC 💰 Craig's Tip Jar: https://paypal.me/craigacree Share this video with a friend:    • Sugar Magnolia | Bob Weir Rhythm Guit...   00:00 Bob Weir Rhythm Demo (with tab) 05:00 Multi-view video (guitar only) #SugarMagnolia #GratefulDead #bobweir
