At the symposium and workshop “Convergence? Interfaces of the Digital and the Living”, Thomas Hartung talked about organoid intelligence. The symposium explored developments and connections that are only starting to take shape, but which will likely be of critical importance for the “Homo sapiens digitalis” of the 21st century. It focused on questions, scenarios, prototypes, and pathways, seeking to establish potential futures in broad strokes, while giving due attention to transformative details. From 17th until 18th October 2023, it invited speakers, scientists and experts from all over the world to the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW)– in cooperation with the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) – to discuss the future of the digital and the living.
