THE CASE AGAINST LINCOLN CENTER/El caso en contra del Centro Lincoln (1968) More than 20,000 Latino families were displaced to make way for Lincoln Center, home to the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Symphony. This film examines the patrons of art" complex (corporations and wealthy families) and the culture displayed there. Juxtaposing the atmosphere of Lincoln Center with the vibrant street culture of a displaced neighborhood, the film correctly predicts the process by which the West Side was to be turned into a high-rent area for the upper middle class. THE CASE AGAINST LINCOLN CENTER was screened as part of the 2015 REVIEWING RENEWAL exhibit at the Queens Museum. From January 11 to February 8, 2015, the non-profit organization 596 Acres recreated their online Urban Reviewer map, a map that features the more than 150 urban renewal plans adopted by the city of New York since 1952, on the Panorama of the City of New York, which was commissioned by Robert Moses for the 1964 World's Fair.
