And the press has automation features that keep it running continuously, allowing your shop to be more productive and profitable. Four Epson technologies make this possible: 1. The gap between the printhead and the platten is very narrow, allowing for precise placement of ink droplets. (The distance from the printhead to the label substrate is just .7 mm!) 2. UV light is applied immediately after each color, partially curing the ink so that ink drops are perfectly round and in the correct position, with minimal spread as they land on the label substrate. In this way, the Epson label press prints very sharp images, with smooth gradations, and detailed text. 3. Epson drum platen technology holds the substrate tightly to a drum as the ink is applied, preventing meandering and skewing of the web. The result is excellent color-to-color registration, vivid images, and precise rendering of thin lines that may be part of a client’s label design. 4. Automatic nozzle verification automatically checks nozzle status by applying voltage to piezo elements in the printhead, and then the head cleans itself automatically to minimize downtime.
