On the continent of Grathieze, halfway around the world of Hethar from the continent of Sopherone, an army of undead moves with dread purpose. At their head, a being of great power called The Son Of The Graven King has his sights set firmly on the last standing, mountain city of Derthast, convinced that somewhere in there lies a Concord Jewel, capable of whisking him unerringly to the Radiant Citadel and his ultimate goal. Having surged forth from the undead infested island of Garthas, The Son Of The Graven King destroyed all in his path, wiping cities and towns off the map of Grathieze and turning the dead to undead to bolster the ranks of his terrible army. Our heroes found themselves in the last standing mountain city of Derthast right as the armies of The Son Of The Graven King breached the gates, slaying soldiers and commoners alike. Fleeing Castle Derthast via the back gate and down the mountain path, the party spied a huge hole in the side of a cliff face, the result of a giant boulder hurled high into the air by one of the army's terrible siege weapons. Venturing inside, they found a huge, townhouse sized glistening gem with a hatch for access inside. With no other choice they tumbled into the strange device which promptly whisked them high into the air right as The Son Of The Graven King strode into the cave. Depositing them in the Deep Ethereal, our heroes found themselves on The Radiant Citadel, welcomed by the community there and in particular a Wizard named Naub, who informed them that they had found some sort of scrying focus attached to the craft the party arrived in, meaning The Son Of The Graven King could most likely now pinpoint the location of The Radiant Citadel. The party were asked to return to the world of Hethar and more specifically the undead infested island of Garthas to learn what they could of the origins of The Son Of The Graven King, so the inhabitants of The Radiant Citadel could prepare for his impending arrival.
