I saw this very original classic black with India red VW Type 3 Fastback in a private lot and knew it was special. After a year of watching it, I tracked down the owner and brought it home. I was a professional Volkswagen mechanic, and this is the best original find I've ever had. There just aren't many of these left. This one sat in this lot for at least 9 years. It's a pristine original with only 58,000 miles. California black plates, and stunningly original interior and trunk and hood material. German build stickers remain throughout, and I suspect even the original spare. Original numbers matching 1600cc fuel injected motor and 4 sp manual trans run like a sewing machine. It drives like a brand new car. Not a rattle or squeak. Whoever owned it took great care of it. It was barely driven, apparently, but has newer shocks and a great choice in Bridgestone Potenza tires. After 40 hours of deep cleaning, minor repairs, and a deep polishing, it's 100% operational and a pleasure to drive and own. Turns head and sparks memories at every stop. A real time-capsule to 1968.
