USR1 Retro Presents: The Playthrough - VIPER Phase 1 (Seibu Kaihatsu, 1995)

The playthrough returns with a vertical shmup from 1995, and one I had never heard of before until i saw it posted on Facebook. A spin off of the Raiden series, VIPER Phase 1 sees you blast everything and sundry as you fight off an invasion. Gorgeous graphics, fantastic sound effects and some good music add to some pretty damn good gameplay that only gets harder the further you go. Also included, as always, are the many deaths I suffered. And by many I mean a lot. And by a lot I mean such an insane amount that I've lost count!
