Throughout the band’s history, Guthrie was the principal songwriter, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and handling most of the programming and effects. In addition to his ongoing work as a producer and engineer, his musical career included his collaboration with Siobhan de Mare and co-founding the band Violet Indiana. He also released several collaborative albums with the acclaimed ambient composer and pianist, the late Harold Budd as well as John Foxx from Ultravox and Mark Gardener (Ride) along with numerous film scores such as Gregg Araki’s “Mysterious Skin”2004 and “White Bird in a Blizzard” 2014 just to name a few. Following the released of his EP in October called "Mockingbird Love," his first full length instrumental album, his first album in nine years since “Fortune” is called “Pearldiving “ which is available via Soleil Après Minuit.
