I review the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon as Heavy Duty Mechanic and all of its amazing Off road 4x4 components. I do really like the cold and snow this time of year but more importantly I'm starting to fall in live with this truck! So I took this ram 2500 power wagon my shop and put it over the pit to take a look at all the wonderful off road equipment underneath this truck to figure out why and how this truck is soo good off road. starting off at the back of the truck. there is an AAM 11.5 inch rear locking differential. and what makes this diff so special is that when the diff is not locked it acts as a Helical limited slip differential. this type of limited slip does not need any special fluid or maintenance making it very reliable. it also makes this truck very good at cruising around town in the snow in the winter because of all that added traction without having to lock the diff or engage 4wd. the suspension on this truck is one of a kind and is only available on the power wagon. It comes with off road tuned Bilstein shocks and a 5 link system in the rear to help control the axle in off-road situation and soak up rough terrain. with this custom off road suspension comes a very nice 2 inch lift over the traditional ram 2500 trucks making it a very tall truck and added critical ground clearance. The downside of this is that the suspension is very soft in comparison to a normal 2500 and greatly reduces this truck payload capacity to 1560 lbs which is pretty low for a heavy duty 2500. up front the suspension is once again only designed for the Power Wagon with a special 3 link set up with Articulink design. this special design allows the front axle to have the ability to flex and articulate much much further then other solid front axle trucks. a great off feature of this truck. The front axle is a 9.5 inch locking diff. also made from AAM in detroit so you know your getting to quality. it is really awesome having 2 locking differentials and this allows this ram 2500 to have amazing off road capabilities. the transfer case is a bw 44-47 true locking unit with a trick up its sleeve. in 4wd low this truck has a final drive ratio of 51:1 which is very very low and also very good for off road use. this allows for very good control and torque flow to the tires. this ram power wagon has hill decent which I will have to learn how to use! this unit also comes with a 12,000 pound Warn winch in the front which really separates the men from the boys. no other truck comes this prepared for off-road use the the ram 2500 power wagon and having this winch is the perfect example as to why this is the case. this truck come with 17 inch rims with nice aggressive goodyear Duratracs which are great off road and in the snow. they are also very nice to drive will on-road. The front sway bar has the option to be disconnected which again helps in off road situations and capabilities. this apparently adds 26 inches of wheel articulation when disengaged. SO in conclusion this 2022 RAM 2500 Power Wagon is truly an off road beast and is going to be extremely capable when I finally get to test the truck to it's limits!
