You've probably seen the video that my dad recorded on his small video camera that was perched on a tripod in the back of the room. That recording was from one of our very first shows together, so it's special to look back and see it, but it's also time for an updated rendition in the more intimate and professional style of my Living Room Sessions videos. I first heard "Feels Like Home" when watching "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days", which was one of my favorite chick flicks back in high school. After learning that Randy Newman wrote the song, however, I listened to more of his music and was quite inspired by his diversity and talent. I loved the way Chantal Kreviazuk performed the song, but I wanted to give it a try, too. Strangely enough, with it's flaws and all its simplicity, that first stationary video of Julia and me giving this song a try has opened MANY doors for incredible musical opportunities for us. The time we opened for Colbie Caillat at a festival in Ringgold, GA was because one of the event coordinators saw the video! We traveled to Napa Valley, CA to play a BEAUTIFUL wedding, which also turned into forming very special friendships with the couple whose first dance was our rendition of the song. Also, I've met sweet people from all around the world who stumbled upon the video, and it's been a vehicle for getting my music and me in their homes and in their hearts. Clearly, it's been a special song for me, and I hope you enjoy this updated video as much as I enjoy singing it every chance I get.
