Opening on the 26th of March 1994 alongside Nemesis and the Pepsi Max Big One, Shockwave stands 120 feet above the Staffordshire countryside at it's home of the Drayton Manor Resort. Constructed by Intimin Amusement Rides and Giovanola, Shockwave was the only stand-up rollercoaster in the UK and one of one 2 in Europe. The coaster was most notable for having the only Zero-G Roll on a Stand-up rollercoaster. In 2023, it was announced by Drayton Manor that the ride would be receiving serval changes to make it fit much better with the family thrill market that that park was now leaning towards. This will involve a retheme of the ride, a renaming of the ride and new sit-down trains which will allow the height limit of the ride to change from 1.4m to 1.2m to allow more guests to experience the ride. On the 5th of November 2023, Shockwave thrilled guests for the last time in her original form. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the changes that come to the ride and experiencing it in it's new form All of the footage was captures by me on her 2nd to last day.
