After being away for two weeks I'd noticed the volume of oil pouring out the bottom of the engine on startup. Waiting another two weeks I replicated this on camera for the same result. An attempt will be made to resolve the issue without a complete removal of the oil pump for repair. Looking back on older videos I see that the check valve could have been handled better. Especially the reuse of the old check valve ball. Further issues would be the spring which was notably shorter than the new one after over forty years of use. After accessing the ball and spring, and with a new package of ball bearings the new ball is inserted and lightly tapped in with a hammer to fix the seat. Another ball bearing is used for final assembly along with the new spring. A dramatic difference on retesting not only after a two week wait but just about 3 weeks. Some residual oil was seen and most likely due to not running it out after repair. #shovelhead #lowrider #motorcyclerepair
