I LOVE THEIR MUSIC!!!!    / locomotioncommotion   . bass guitar: Esther (   • ceilings by lizzy mcalpine - esther a...  ) clarinet: Claudia guitar: Chloe (   / @iamlikuan  ) piano: Sophie tambourines: Claudia, Phoebe violas: Imogen, Phoebe vocals: Chloe, Claudia, Esther, Imogen, Phoebe, Sophie Disclaimer II: In the WhatsApp messages in the bloopers, Sophie was talking about a band arrangement she had been playing at school last year, not about this arrangement, of which she highly approves. She wishes to let everyone know that although the person who made the bloopers made her sound "so up myself", she actually isn't up herself at all. . lyrics: well i was sleeping in the garden when i saw you first; He'd put me deep, deep under, so that he could work. and like the dawn, you broke the dark and my whole earth shook; i was sleeping in the garden when i saw you. at last, at last, bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh, at last. you were the brightest shade of sun i had ever seen; your skin was gilded with the gold of the richest king. and like the dawn, you woke the world inside of me; you were the brightest shade of sun when i saw you. at last - and you will surely be the death of me, but how could i have known? i was sleeping in the garden; like the dawn, you broke the dark. i was sleeping in the garden, bones of my bones. . "and you will surely be the death of me; but how could i have known?" i really love this song. through a beautiful, poetic retelling of adam's first glimpse of eve, it perfectly encapsulates the wonder that ought to come every time another human being comes into my life - if only i truly apprehended the phenomenal mystery i am encountering every time i am facing another member of the human race. i especially love the fact that although the lyrics are clearly from adam's perspective, the oh hellos chose to write the song for maggie's voice, which i think clearly shows that the concepts introduced by the song are universal aspects of human experience and human relationship. they are not just applicable to male-female romantic relationships - this song reminds me of the inestimable value of all people, who are all precious and who all deserve to be deeply loved and cherished. the metaphors are exquisite - like the dawn, the creation of eve breaks the dark; her existence shakes adam's "whole earth", waking "the world inside" him. in relationship with her (a free being, an end in herself, a whole "world", like he is) adam - at last! - discovers who he is. i also like that the foreshadowing of the fall, and suffering, and death, that is to come (in the bridge) is followed by a transition into a more hopeful chord sequence to build up towards the end of the song - perhaps also alluding towards an even brighter shade of sun that may one day break the dark again, this time for good.
