Maserati Hits 150 MPH Through City Limits During High-Speed Chase

On february 24, 2024, at approximately 4:33 PM, I, Trooper Keaton Ramsey was advised that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office had turned around on a gray exotic sports car (Suspected Maserati) around the Marble area. The vehicle was passing in a no-passing zone and almost hit the deputy head-on. The vehicle took off, passing more vehicles in a no-passing zone and they were unable to catch up to the vehicle. They were unsure if it went up State Highway 21 north in Carroll County or continued eastbound on U.S. Highway 412. I was near Alpena and had set up on the East side of the four-lane highway looking for the vehicle. During a traffic stop near 12111 US 62 East of Alpena, I observed a dark gray Maserati matching the description pass by still eastbound. I concluded my stop and began attempting to catch up to the vehicle. It took me approximately 5.3 miles at over 120MPH to catch up to the vehicle. I observed the vehicle tailgating another vehicle in the left lane attempting to go Northbound on U.S. Highway 65. However, once the vehicle saw me it began weaving through traffic at approximately 80 MPH and then passed two vehicles on the shoulder of the southbound ramp to U.S. Hwy 65. At this time, I activated all emergency equipment and called pursuit to attempt to stop the reckless driving. The vehicle appeared to have no license plate. Once on U.S. Highway 65 southbound near the Bear Creek area, I clocked the suspect vehicle on radar at 156 MPH passing in the middle turn lane. I attempted to maintain visuals and get additional resources to help intercept. The vehicle continued into Harrison City limits at speeds of approximately 130-150 MPH still riding in the middle turning lane and ran through two intersections. I came through the intersection of U.S. 65 and State Highway 43 and had lost visual. I terminated the pursuit at the following intersection with Industrial Park Road. During the pursuit the original deputy who attempted to stop the vehicle called. I advised I had located it and was actively trying to catch up to it. Harrison Police Officer Anthony Scotti also called during pursuit and using hands free again attempted coordinating a response for interception of the suspect vehicle, but we were traveling too fast to arrange before losing visuality. I began searching around the area and waiting for any follow-up calls to help locate the suspect vehicle. I then advised Troop I that I would be going back towards the Missouri Line to try and relocate as the vehicle appeared to be wanting to go northbound originally. ASP Troop I Sgt. Sheley advised on the radio that Troop I troopers would respond to the state line area and look for the suspect vehicle and I could return to Troop L. Harrison Police Officer Anthony Scotti accessed their license plate readers set up near the Bear Creek area and was able to provide a photo of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle had a tinted license plate cover but appeared to have a Texas license plate. Deputy Daniel Mehn with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office also provided a picture from his dashcam. In his video, it was determined the driver was a white male. Troop I was unable to locate the suspect vehicle again. The report will be closed unless identifying information is obtained.
