While in Lahore, we recorded the living legend Dildar Hussain and his sons Abrar Hussain and Israr Hussain. We got multiple performances, so hold on to your seats, we're about to go on a ride! For those of us who lived through the reign of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Dildar Hussain has a very special place in our hearts and there is no doubt that history will regard him as one of the greatest to ever play qawwali style tabla. But in a one-on-one interview, I learned much more about his process and his utter humility. We will be posting this interview soon, but for now, enjoy this opening piece from our Lahore recordings of the father and his sons. Here, they do an admirable qawwali take on the popular Punjabi geet, "Awain Te Tenu Dasan" made famous by Ghulam Ali.
