Lady Scarface - Crime/Drama (1941) - Judith Anderson, Dennis O'Keefe

A rare B-film stars Judith Anderson as Slade, the villainous Chicago gangster wanted for money schemes and murder at the head of a band of criminals. Not a favourite for Old Hollywood film buffs-- the movie was riddled with strange pacing issues and ends too abruptly to experience any satisfaction. The movie flops overall, and tragically, while the film has many enticing elements in concept; particularly, the iconic and memorable antagonist-- who was given hardly enough screen time to warrant her use in the movie. The titular Lady Scarface would have done better to be part of a televised crime serial, perhaps-- or a full-length feature, at least! Still, Anderson's role is exciting, and unique. Any fan would appreciate the film on the basis of her merit alone.
