Should the government stop subsidising MPs meals in Parliament and instead use the money to support food banks? A petition launched by Westminster's largest food bank has received over 80,000 signatures to support its mission to end subsidised meals for MPs. They say that more than three million people in the UK relied on food banks last year - while Parliament's 17 bars and eateries made a loss of £7 million - which was paid for instead by taxpayers. The North Paddingtion Food Bank would like to see that money used for essential community services, like food banks, which could significantly reduce hunger and poverty.
