Though often called the Blue Pools Wanaka, they're actually on the Haast Pass drive and part of Mount Aspiring National Park — but often people do what we did, driver from Queenstown or Wanaka back to check them out. The Blue Pools has a super popular walking track as well, though in this case the walk is short and the reward is incredible! This is some of, if not THE, bluest and clearest water we've ever seen in New Zealand. Also in this vlog is breakfast in Wanaka at Scroggin before a walk down to lake Wanaka, which has hopefully topped up somewhat now since our visit. The attraction in Wanaka lots of people go to see is That Wanaka Tree, though you can see from the vlog our viewing was just a tree without the lake surrounding it, but still looking stunning and unique out there all alone.
