They might not have been as popular as Ludwig Drums, Slingerland Drums, or anything from Camco, Rogers, or the other manufacturers of the day. Still, they made instruments that were just as good (and sometimes even better) than their American counterparts. Today, I'm joined by drummer and music journalist extraordinaire Sahan Jayasuriya. Sahan challenges me to get this 50 dollar snare to sound good with just 15 minutes to switch out both heads and the wires. I think I did a good job. What about you? Later, we'll talk about a 100 dollar snare drum option that I found online too. It's a 60 dollar snare drum that I paid 40 bucks for shipping with from a used shop down south. And with a new batter head, I made this other Premier snare sound phenomenal. And if you stick around long enough, you're going to learn all about this brand, see and hear a bunch of their coolest (and wildest products), and hopefully you'll walk away wanting to find a deal on something as cool as this stuff too! Drum audio was captured with two Universal Audio Apollo x8p interfaces using 1073 preamp modeling. Mics include: - SE Electronics V-Kick (Kick In) - Dr. Alien Smith Alien8 (Kick Out) - Shure Unidyne III SM57 (Snare Top) - Rode NT55 w/ Cardioid Capsule (Snare Top) - Audio-Technica ATM650 (Snare Bottom) - Sennheiser MD-421 (Each Tom) - AKG C414 TLII Pair (Overheads) - Apex 210B Ribbon into Soyuz Launcher (Room) - Shure 588SB (Vocal) I use Logic Pro X, Waves Audio plugins, and I believe that all drums are good drums (even roto toms). Oh, and that cool mic cable? It comes from Sorry Cables in LA. – https://www.sorrycables.com/ Questions? I do lessons on drumming, recording drums, social media, and more. Plus, I've been working with drum companies on all sorts of cool stuff. Check out my website! And you can always find me at [email protected] or hit me up on my other socials.
