Somebody was out here hundred of years ago and I just found their stuff. A 20 minute hike up a non drivable deserted dirt road and then 15 minutes of a hike into terrible land. Out of nowhere I see very old small and short rock walls showing the signs of land clearing and cultivation from centuries ago. Start metal detecting with the Fisher F19 and we are finding relics. Nail iron in the ground and stone square that must have been where a cabin style dwelling was. Old clothing buttons, spoons, tools, iron farm things and a nice thimble amongst the great finds. This was most likely a short lived settlers site from the early 1800s and they did not stay long. But this is how you find old places metal detecting. Reading the landscape history and exploring the woods. This place has probably been deserted 200 years.
