NASCLA is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniformity in construction standards across state licensing agencies. What this means for contractors is that if you hold a NASCLA license it may be possible for you to forego a trade examination in another state that recognizes NASCLA's examination. It is important to remember that NASCLA is not a contractor license. It is an approved examination that is accepted by various state licensing boards. To be accepted to take a NASCLA examination, you must be pre-approved. You will need to meet your state's requirements and also possibly pass a project management or law & business examination. As of today there are 18 NASCLA Member states: Alabama Arkansas Arizona Florida Georgia Louisiana Mississippi Missouri Nevada North Carolina Oregon South Carolina Tennessee Utah Virgin Islands Virginia West Virginia Make sure that you are familiar with your state's requirements before you try and get a license.
