In this video is a quick demo of how to set a Jaguar AJ16 engine to top dead centre (TDC) for the purposes of resetting the camshaft position sensor. The AJ16 engine has an electronic cam position unit where the old AJ6 engine had a distributor. The device is slightly mysterious insofar that the engine will in principle run no matter what position it is in. You will also note there is the possibility to "align" the unit. In-fact if the cam position sensor is not adjusted properly you will find the engine very difficult to start. The position of the crank position sensor is usually only disturbed after major engine work such as a head gasket change or renewal of the timing set.
