The debate led to exposure of the RSS chief Bhaurau Deoras who wrote two letters to then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi expressing support for the Emergency. What was the real intent of Mr Modi - was it another way to settle scores with the RSS whose current chief has ,of late, been critical of the prime minister.
