[Hollow Knight Synthwave Cover] • Hornet - JAMES SPYDER

Cover of "Hornet" by Christopher Larkin from the Hollow Knight soundtrack. I started work on this last year, shortly after [Old Stories]. Figured out the vibe of the thing early on, but ended up getting distracted by other endeavours (see: 2023 releases). I did want to close it off, so a few evenings spent working it out, I present the finished product! I wanted to lean into the driving nature of 6/8 - so I used a bit of interplay between the drums and the main bassline to create a bit of rhythmic tension. Ended up sounding a bit like a chase theme, which works well due to the boss fight the original version accompanied. P.s. Looking forward to "Silksong". Released 29th March on all platforms.
